Bibliyoterapiye dayalı okuma programının benlik algısı ve eleştirel okuma düzeyine etkisi

Abstract

Bu araştırma ilkokul 4. sınıf öğrencilerinin, benlik algısı ve eleştirel okuma düzeyine bibliyoterapi temelli okuma programının (BDOP) etkisinin ne olduğunu belirlemeyi amaçlamaktadır. Türkiye’nin batı bölgesinde bir ilkokuldaki, 4. sınıfta öğrenim gören ve 273 öğrenci arasından seçilen, 17 düşük benlik algısı düzeyine sahip öğrenci ile çalışma gerçekleştirilmiştir. Coopersmith (1967) tarafından geliştirilen Coopersmith Öz Saygı Envanteri (Coopersmith ÖSE), Ünal’ın (2006) geliştirmiş olduğu Eleştirel Okuma Ölçeği (EOÖ), kişisel bilgi formu ile katılımcı ve araştırmacı günlüğü veri toplama aracı olarak kullanılmıştır. Araştırmada ön– son test kontrol gruplu yarı deneysel desen kullanılmıştır. Kullanılan 2x2’lik karışık desenden birinci faktör bağımsız işlem gruplarını, ikinci faktör ise bağımlı değişkene ilişkin tekrarlı ölçümleri göstermektedir. BDOP araştırmanın bağımsız değişkenini, öğrenci öz saygı ve eleştirel okuma düzeyleri ise bağımlı değişkenleri oluşturmaktadır

This research aims to determine the effect of a bibliotherapy-based reading program (BDOP) on the self-esteem and critical reading levels of 4th-grade primary school students. The study was conducted with 17 students with low self-esteem levels, selected from 273 students in a primary school in the western region of Turkey. Coopersmith Self-Esteem Inventory (Coopersmith SEI), developed by Coopersmith (1967), and the Critical Reading Scale (EOÖ), developed by Ünal (2006), along with a personal information form, participant diary, and researcher diary were used as data collection tools. The research used a pre-post test control group quasi-experimental design. The 2x2 mixed method used in the study represents the first factor as independent process groups and the second factor as repeated measurements related to the dependent variable. BDOP constituted the independent variable of the research, while student self-esteem and critical reading levels constituted the dependent variables. Before the application, Coopersmith SEI and EOÖ were administered to 273 students, and 17 students with self-esteem scores below the average were randomly divided into experimental (n=10) and control (n=7) groups. The researcher implemented eight weeks of 80-minute sessions. At the end of the application, the measurement tools were re-administered to both groups as the post-test. The research results showed that BDOP positively affected students' self-esteem levels. It was observed that there was a significant difference in the Coopersmith SEI sub-dimensions of General Self-Esteem, Social Self-Esteem, Academic Self-Esteem, and total self-esteem scores of the students in the experimental group, indicating an increase in their self-esteem levels. However, the pre-post test score increase in the Home-Family Self-Esteem sub-dimension was not significant. No significant difference was observed in the students' EOÖ pre-post test scores.
