Yerel halkın üniversiteye bakış açısı: Harmancık meslek yüksekokulu örneği

Abstract

Bu araştırma ile Bursa ili Harmancık ilçesinde yaşayan yerel halkın, ilçede yer alan Harmancık Meslek Yüksekokulu’na bakış açısının belirlenmesi amaçlanmıştır. Yerel halkın Harmancık Meslek Yüksekokulu’na ilişkin düşünceleri; ekonomik katkı, yöresel imaj ve sosyal etki kategorilerinde değerlendirilmiştir. Yerel halkın demografik yapısını, üniversiteye karşı olan tutum ve beklentilerini tespit etmek üzere yapılan çalışma; üniversitenin ilçede yaşayan yerel halk ile etkileşimi adına önem taşımaktadır. Araştırmanın, Harmancık’ta, bu alanda, yapılmış ilk çalışma olması bakımından da alanyazına katkıda bulunması öngörülmektedir. Araştırma sonucunda, yerel halkın büyük çoğunluğunun; memleketinin Harmancık olduğu, 16 yıldan fazla bir süredir Harmancık’ta yaşadığı ve Harmancık Meslek Yüksekokulu’nda bir yakınının / tanıdığının öğrenim görmediği tespit edilmiştir. Bunun yanı sıra yerel halkın, bir yakınının / tanıdığının Harmancık Meslek Yüksekokulu’nda öğrenim görmesini isteme oranının yüksek olması, yerel halkın üniversiteye bakış açısının olumlu yönde olduğunu göstermektedir.

With this research, it was aimed to specify the perspective of the local community toward Harmancık Vocational School in Harmancık in Bursa. Local communities’ thoughts on Harmancık Vocational School was evaluated in three categories which are; economic contribution, regional image and social effect categories. The research was done to determine the rural citizens’ demographic structure and their attitudes and expectations from the university have an importance for the forward decisions about communication between university and citizens. It is foreseen that the research will contribute to the literature for it is the first work in this field in Harmancık. With this research it was determined that Harmancık is a hometown of the most of the citizens and it showed that they have been living in Harmancık more than sixteen years, and it was seen that they have not any relative’s or any friends who takes education in Harmancık Vocational School. In addition to this, high rate of local people wants their relatives / acquaintances to study at the “Vocational School of Harmancık” shows that their thoughts and attitudes are positive to the Harmancık Vocational School.
