Background tanımlama yöntemi sayesinde kompleksleşme sürecinde meydana gelen spektral değişimler doğrudan izlenmiş ve metal–ligant etkileşimleri FT-IR spektroskopisi ile değerlendirilmiştir. Dpp ligantının kullanılan metal iyonları arasındaki metal seçimlilik sıralamasının Cu(II), Ni(II), Co(II) ve Mn(II) şeklinde olduğu tespit edilmiş olup kullanılan yöntem sayesinde kompleksleşme süreçlerinin takibi mümkün kılınmaktadır.
In this study, the synthesis of 2,6-dipyrazolylpyridine-derived ligants and their complexation behavior with selected transition metal ions were investigated. The complexation reactions of the synthesized 2,6-bis(3,5-diethyl-N-pyrazolyl)pyridine (bdmpp) ligant with Mn(II), Fe(III), and Hg(II) ions, as well as those of 2,6-dipyrazolylpyridine (dpp) with Cu(II), Mn(II), Ni(II), and Co(II) ions, were monitored in methanolic solution using FT-IR spectroscopy. In addition, the metal-ion selectivity of the DPP ligant was evaluated in methanol. Metal–ligant complexation reactions essentially involve two main components: the metal ion and the ligant. In order to monitor this interaction using an FT-IR liquid cell, the ligant solution was defined as the background (bg). By recording the ligant solution as the background spectrum, the vibrational bands originating from the free ligant prior to complex formation were taken as a reference and effectively eliminated from the recorded spectra. Subsequently, FT-IR spectra of the metal–ligant mixtures were acquired. As a result, vibrational bands associated with complex formation were observed below the transmittance baseline, whereas spectral changes arising from the decrease in the concentration of the free ligant were observed above the transmittance baseline. Using this approach, it was determined that the BDMPP ligant formed complexes with Mn(II), Fe(III), and Hg(II) ions, while the DPP ligant formed complexes with Cu(II), Mn(II), Ni(II), and Co(II) ions in methanolic solution. The background subtraction method enabled the direct monitoring of spectral changes occurring during the complexation process, allowing metal–ligant interactions to be evaluated by FT-IR spectroscopy. The selectivity order of the DPP ligand toward the investigated metal ions was determined to be Cu(II) > Ni(II) > Co(II) > Mn(II). Furthermore, the employed method enabled the effective monitoring of the complexation processes.
