Endemic and rare plants of Ulus Mountain Balıkesir Turkey

Abstract

In this study, threat categories, life forms and phytogeographic regions of endemic and rare plants growing in Ulus Mountain Balıkesir are given. 382 taxa belonging to 63 families and 245 genera were determined in the research area. Also 29 endemic and 1 rare taxa were identified. Endemism rate is 7.6 %. According to the threat categories, the endemic taxa growing in Ulus Mountain are categorized as LC 18, NT 4 and CR 1. Species known from several locations such as Rumex olympicus Boiss. endemic , Ferula anatolica Boiss. endemic and Ferulago sylvatica Besser Rchb. rare were identified in this mountain as well. Bu çalışmada Ulus Dağı Balıkesir ’nda yetişen endemik ve nadir bitkilerin, tehlike kategorileri, hayat formları ve fitocoğrafik bölgeleri tespit edilmiştir. Araştırma alanında toplam 63 familyaya ait 245 cins ve bu cinslere ait 382 takson belirlenmiş olup, endemizm oranı % 7,6’dir. Bu alanda 29 endemik, 1 nadir takson bulunmaktadır. Endemik taksonların 18’i LC, 4’ü NT ve bir tanesi CR kategorisindedir. Rumex olympicus Boiss. endemik , Ferula anatolica Boiss. endemik ve Ferulago sylvatica Besser Rchb. nadir gibi birkaç lokaliteden bilinen bu türlerin Ulus Dağı’nda da varlığı tespit edilmiştir. Endemik türleri tehdit eden faktörler belirlenmiştir.
