Scientific ethics scale development process and high school students’ sensitivity for scientific ethics

Abstract

In this study, it is aimed to develop “Scientific Ethics Scale” and to determine the sensitivity of high school students about scientific ethics. The research is in the screening model and it is a scale development study which aims to measure the compliance level of the students with scientific ethical rules. The pilot study is carried out with the first research group by determining two different sample groups. The sample of the pilot application consisted of 187 high school students. The final scale is formed by analyzing the data obtained from the pilot application. This final scale is applied to 368 high school students in a city center. "Scientific Ethics Scale" is used as the data collection tool and the obtained data are analyzed using the SPSS-22 software program. According to the findings obtained in the study, the opinions of high school students on the subject of “Scientific Ethics” do not differ significantly from their demographic characteristics. When analyzed on the basis of scale items, it is seen that girls are more sensitive about scientific ethics than boys.

Bu çalışmada, “Bilimsel Etik Ölçeği” geliştirmek ve lise öğrencilerinin bilimsel etik konusundaki duyarlılıklarını belirlemek amaçlanmıştır. Araştırma tarama modelinde olup bir ölçek geliştirme ve lise öğrencilerinin bilimsel etik konusundaki duyarlılıklarını belirleme çalışmasıdır. Bu kapsamda iki farklı örneklem grubu belirlenerek pilot uygulama ilk araştırma grubu ile yapılmıştır. Pilot uygulamanın örneklemini 187 lise öğrencisi oluşturmuştur. Yapılan pilot uygulamasından elde edilen veriler analiz edilerek nihai ölçek oluşturulmuştur. Oluşturulan bu nihai ölçek, bir il merkezindeki 368 lise öğrencisine uygulanmıştır. Bilimsel Etik Ölçeği kullanılarak toplanan veriler SPSS-22 yazılım programı kullanılarak analiz edilmiştir. Araştırmada elde edilen bulgulara göre lise öğrencilerinin “Bilimsel Etik” konusuna ilişkin görüşlerinin, cinsiyet, sınıf düzeyi, anne ve baba eğitim seviyesi, herhangi bir bilimsel çalışmada görev alma ve bilimsel etik kavramını duyup duymama durumlarına göre anlamlı fark oluşturmadığı görülmüştür. Bununla birlikte lise öğrencilerinin “Bilimsel Etik” konusuna ilişkin görüşlerinin okul türüne göre farklılaştığı belirlenmiştir. Bununla birlikte lise öğrencilerinin “Bilimsel Etik” konusuna ilişkin görüşleri ile okul türleri arasında anlamlı bir fark olduğu saptanmıştır.
