12. sınıf öğrencilerinin kesirler ve yüzde problemleri konusundaki problem kurma becerilerinin 9. ve 10. sınıftaki durumları ile karşlaştırılması

Abstract

Bu çalışmada, 9. ve bir sonraki yıl 10. sınıfa geçen aynı öğrencilerin “Kesir ve Yüzde Problemleri” konusundaki problem kurma becerilerinin karşılaştırılması amaçlanmıştır. Çalışma grubunu Kocaeli’nin Gebze ilçesinde bulunan bir lisenin 2017-2018 eğitim-öğretim yılındaki 67 tane 9. sınıf öğrencisi ve aynı öğrencilerin oluşturduğu 10. sınıfa geçen, 2018-2019 eğitim-öğretim yılındaki 67 tane 10. sınıf öğrencisi oluşturmaktadır. 2017-2018 yılında 9. sınıfta öğrenim gören öğrencilerle yapılan çalışma, tekrar edilerek boylamsal bir araştırma gerçekleştirilmiştir. Veri toplama aracı olarak “Problem Kurma Beceri Testi” ön-test ve son-test olarak kullanılmıştır. Araştırma modeli, yarı deneysel ön test-son test kontrol gruplu deneysel model olan boylamsal bir çalışmadır. Öğrencilerin problem kurma becerilerini belirleyebilmek için oluşturulmuş olan testte kesir ve yüzde problemlerine yönelik olarak 3 tane açık uçlu problem kurma durumu hazırlanmıştır. Verilen problem kurma durumlarından birinci soru yapılandırılmış, ikinci ve üçüncü sorular ise yarı yapılandırılmış şekildedir. Araştırmaya ait nitel verilerin çözümlenmesinde içerik analizi kullanılmıştır. İçerik analizi kullanılırken etkileşimli veri analizi modelinin aşamalarından yararlanılmıştır. Problem kurma soruları, değerlendirme rubriği kullanılarak analiz edilmiştir. Her bir kâğıt puanlandıktan sonra her biri için toplam puan 100 üzerinden hesaplanmıştır. Oluşturulan veriler ile frekans tablosu ve histogram hazırlanmıştır. 9. ve 10. sınıf öğrencilerinin problem kurma becerileri karşılaştırıldığında 10. sınıftaki öğrencilerin problem kurma becerilerinin 9. sınıftaki durumlarına göre daha başarılı oldukları sonucuna ulaşılmıştır.

This qualitative case study aimed to compare 9th and 10th grade students’ problem posing ability on “Fraction and Percentage Problems”. The participants of the study included 67 9th grade students who were in high school in Kocaeli/Gebze and the same 67 students who passed 9th grade and started to 10th grade in the 2018-2019 academic year. “Problem Posing Ability Test” was used as pre-test and post-test as a data collection tool. The research was a longitudinal study including semi-experimental design with pre-test and post-test control groups.3 open-ended problem cases were prepared for the fraction and percentage problems in the test that was created to determine the students’ problemposing abilities. The first question was structured and the second and third questions were semistructured. Content analysis was used to analyze the data, during which we utilized the stages of data analysis. Problem posing questions were analyzed by using the evaluation rubric. After each paper was scored, the total score for each was calculated out of 100. Frequency table and histogram were prepared with the data generated. When the 9th and 10th grades problem posing abilities were compared, it was concluded that the 10th grade students’ problem posing abilities were more successful than their 9th grade progress.
