Ortaöğretim tarih ders kitaplarında coğrafi unsurlara nasıl ve ne düzeyde yer verilmektedir?

Abstract

Mekân hem tarih için hem coğrafya öğretimi için oldukça önemlidir. Tarih ve coğrafya disiplinlerini mekândan bağımsız düşünemeyiz. Coğrafi olay ve olguların mekânsal dağılımı ve bu dağılım üzerinde etkili olan faktörler coğrafya disiplinin temel konularından birisidir. Mekânda bulunan coğrafi unsurlarda (topografik, jeolojik, klimatik, vejetatif, yer altı zenginlik kaynakları, demografik yapı, yerleşme şekilleri vb.) tarihi olayın seyrine yön vermektedir. Bu bağlamda iyi bir coğrafya okuryazarı olmak yâda başka bir ifade ile iyi derecede mekân bilgisine sahip olmak tarihi olayları daha iyi algılamak için büyük önem arz eder. Ortaöğretim 9, 10. ve 11. sınıf tarih ders kitaplarında coğrafi unsurlara yer verilme durumunu belirlemeye yönelik olarak gerçekleştirilen bu araştırma, nitel araştırma yöntemlerinden doküman incelemesi ile gerçekleştirilmiştir. Doküman incelemesi ile elde edilen verilerin çözümlenmesinde içerik analizi kullanılmıştır. 9.,10. ve 11. sınıf tarih ders kitaplarında coğrafi unsurlar içerisinde en fazla yer adlarına yer verilmektedir. İncelenen bu eserlere dayalı olarak, yer adlarına dayalı bir tarih öğretimi söz konusudur. Orta öğretim tarih ders kitaplarının konu içeriğine bağlı olarak kullanılan coğrafi terimlerin frekans sıklığı aralığı da değişmektedir.

The place is very important for teaching of both history and geography. We cannot think of disciplines of history and geography independent from of place. The spatial distribution of geographical events and phenomena and the factors that influence this distribution are one of the main points of geographical discipline. Geographical Elements in the space (topography, geological, climatic, vegetation, underground wealth resources, demographic structure, settlement types, etc.) shape the direction of the historical events. In this context, being a good geographical literate, or having a well-known spatial knowledge in other words, is of great importance for better understanding of historical events. This research was conducted to determine the inclusion of geographical elements in the 9th, 10th and 11th grade textbooks of secondary education. This research was carried out through qualitative research methods using a document analysis. Content analysis was used in analysing the data obtained by the document examination. Place names are given most among the geographical elements in the 9., 10. and 11th grade history textbooks, . Based on these insights, history teaching is based on place names. The frequency range of geographical terms used varies depending on the subject matter of secondary education history textbooks.
