A Unique and Traditional Heritage: Sındırgı-Düvertepe Soldier Halva

Abstract

Culture, which is defined as the sum of all material and spiritual values created in the historical and social development process, changes from society to society. Every people born in a certain society grows and cultured by being influenced by the culture of the society in which it lives. It is important for individuals to internalize their own culture and make it a part of themselves, as well as to pass on what they have learned to future generations. Therefore, the aim of this study is to record the Soldier Halva, which is an example of a cultural heritage that is unique to the Düvertepe rural area of Balıkesir province, Sındırgı district and has been going on for centuries, in order to pass it on to future generations. The study was handled with a phenomenological approach, one of the qualitative research methods. Preliminary data of the study were collected through document review and on-site observation. The application example of military halva was made by the resource persons and the practitioner. As a result of the research, it has been suggested that every material of the military halva should be obtained from a single region, it is still traditionally carried out in the region and it remains stale for a long time.

Tarihsel, toplumsal gelişme süreci içinde yaratılan bütün maddi ve manevi değerlerin bütünü olarak tanımlanan kültür, toplumdan topluma değişmektedir. Belli bir toplumda doğan her birey içinde yaşadığı toplumun kültüründen etkilenerek büyür. Bireylerin kendi kültürünü benimsemesi, öz benliğinin bir parçası haline getirmesi onun topluma uyumu kadar, öğrendiklerini gelecek nesillere aktarması açısından da önemlidir. Bu nedenle bu çalışmanın amacı, Balıkesir ili Sındırgı ilçesi Düvertepe kırsalına mahsus ve yüzyıllardır süren bir kültürel miras örneği olan Asker Helvasını gelecek nesillere aktarmak ve kayıt altına almaktır. Çalışma nitel araştırma yöntemlerinden fenomelojik yaklaşımla ele alınmıştır. Çalışmanın verileri doküman incelemesi, yerinde gözlem ve uygulamalar yoluyla toplanmıştır. Uygulama aşamasında Asker helvası bizzat kaynak kişiler ve uygulayıcı tarafından yapılmıştır. Araştırma sonucunda asker helvasının her bir malzemesinin tek bir yöreden temin edilmesi, geleneksel olarak yörede hala sürdürülüyor olması ve uzun süre bayatlamadan kalması nedeniyle Coğrafi işaret alması gerektiği, yerel kalkınmayı sağlamak adına da turistik ürüne dönüştürülmesi önerilmiştir.
