In this study, it was aimed to determine the effect of ELVES method on listening success and attitude and to determine students' opinions about this method. In the research, embeded design, one of the mixed research methods in which qualitative and quantitative research methods are used together, was used. While the quasi-experimental design with pretest-posttest control group was used in the quantitative part of the research, the interview technique was used in the qualitative part. Convience sampling method was used to determine the study group, and the study group of the research consisted of 40 fifth grade students (20 experiment - 20 control) in the 2017-2018 academic year. During the treatment process, the activities structured with the ELVES method were carried out for ten weeks, four course hours a week, for the experimental group, and the activities in the Turkish lesson curriculum were applied to the control group. “Attitude Scale Towards Listening” and “Listening Comprehension Achievement Test” developed by Katrancı (2012) were used as data collection tools. In addition, the "SemiStructured Interview Form" developed by the researchers was applied to the students in the experimental group to get their opinions on the ELVES method. Descriptive statistics for statistical solutions of quantitative data, t-test for independent samples and analysis of covariance were performed. Content analysis was used in the analysis of qualitative data. At the end of the study, it was found that the effect of the ELVES method on listening success and attitude was positive. With the interviews, it was determined that the experimental group students' opinions about the teaching process were positive. For this reason, it is recommended to use structured listening activities with the ELVES method in Turkish lessons and to introduce the method to Turkish teachers and teacher candidates.
