Aeneas Kültür Rotası’nın kültür rotası değerlendirme modeline göre turist rehberleri tarafından değerlendirilmesi

Abstract

Kültür rotaları; geçmişte askerî, dinsel ya da ticari amaçlarla kullanılan güzergâhların, tarihî alanların, antik yerleşimlerin ve tarih boyunca önemli kişilerle ilişkilendirilen yolların bir araya getirilmesiyle oluşan yapılardır. Bu rotalar, kültürel ve doğal mirasın korunmasına, görünür kılınmasına ve turizm faaliyetleri aracılığıyla sürdürülebilir şekilde değerlendirilmesine katkı sunan bütüncül bir çerçeve niteliği taşımaktadır. Günümüzde kültür turizmi kapsamında giderek daha fazla önem kazanan bu rotalar, destinasyonların çeşitlendirilmesi ve kültürel mirasın sürdürülebilir biçimde kullanılması açısından etkili bir araç hâline gelmiştir. Bu kapsamda mitolojik bir anlatı etrafında şekillenen ve farklı ülkeleri kapsayan Aeneas Kültür Rotası, sahip olduğu tarihsel, kültürel ve simgesel değerler açısından önemli bir potansiyel barındırmaktadır. Avrupa Konseyi tarafından sertifikalandırılan 49 kültür rotası arasında yer alan Aeneas Kültür Rotası, Troyalı kahraman Aeneas’ın mitolojik yolculuğu doğrultusunda şekillenen; Türkiye’nin yanı sıra Arnavutluk, İtalya, Yunanistan ve Tunus sınırları içerisinde bulunan limanlar ve arkeolojik alanları kapsayan çok uluslu bir kültür rotasıdır. Bu çalışmada, Troya’dan başlayarak Akdeniz coğrafyasına yayılan Aeneas Kültür Rotası ele alınmış; rotanın taşıdığı değer ve geliştirilme potansiyeli turist rehberlerinin görüşleri doğrultusunda değerlendirilmiştir. Araştırmada nicel araştırma yöntemi benimsenmiş ve veriler, Aeneas Kültür Rotası ile ilişkili güzergâhlarda görev yapan ve Çanakkale Bölgesel Turist Rehberleri Odası’na (ÇARO) üye olan turist rehberlerine uygulanan Kültür Rotası Değerlendirme Modelinin (CREM) anketi aracılığıyla toplanmıştır. Elde edilen bulgular doğrultusunda, rotanın bilinirliği, önemi ve turizme sağlayabileceği katkılar analiz edilmiştir. Çalışmanın temel amacı, Aeneas Kültür Rotası’nın kültürel mirasın korunması ve turizm yoluyla değerlendirilmesi sürecine katkı sağlayacak biçimde mevcut durumunu ortaya koymak ve rotanın geliştirilmesine yönelik somut öneriler sunmaktır. Bu doğrultuda, Aeneas Kültür Rotası’nın sürdürülebilir bir kültür rotası olarak planlanmasına ve ulusal ve uluslararası ölçekte daha görünür hâle gelmesine katkı sağlanması hedeflenmektedir. Araştırmanın sonucunda Aeneas Kültür Rotası, bilimsel, kültürel, tarihî ve ekonomik açıdan güçlü bir potansiyele sahip olup, rotanın benzersiz teması, tarihî bağlamı ve kültürel derinliği turist rehberleri tarafından yüksek düzeyde önemsenmiştir. Bununla birlikte, turizme özgü değerler, koruma ve muhafaza süreçleri mevcut potansiyelin gerisinde kalmakta, ziyaretçi deneyimi, ulaşılabilirlik, tanıtım, altyapı ve hizmet kalitesi gibi alanlarda geliştirilmesi gereken önemli eksiklikler bulunmaktadır. Analizler, rotanın ana değerlerinin yüksek olmasına rağmen turizme özgü boyutların bu potansiyeli destekleyecek seviyeye henüz ulaşmadığını ortaya koymaktadır. Bu durum, rotanın stratejik planlama, altyapı geliştirme, yönetim ve turistik ürün çeşitlendirme gibi alanlarda yapılacak hedefli müdahalelerle hem ulusal hem de uluslararası ölçekte daha görünür, sürdürülebilir ve işlevsel bir kültür rotası hâline getirilebileceğini göstermektedir. Çalışma, Aeneas Kültür Rotası’nın mevcut durumunu sistematik bir biçimde ortaya koymakta ve rotanın geliştirilmesine yönelik gelecekteki araştırmalar, yönetim planları ve stratejik yönelimler için kapsamlı bir değerlendirme sunmaktadır.Cultural routes have emerged as holistic structures that contribute to the protection, promotion, and tourism-based utilization of cultural and natural heritage by bringing together historical sites, ancient cities, and routes historically used for military, religious, and commercial purposes, as well as paths associated with significant historical and mythical figures. Gaining increasing importance within the scope of cultural tourism, these routes have become an effective tool for destination diversification and the sustainable use of cultural heritage. In this context, the Aeneas Cultural Route, shaped around a mythological narrative and extending across multiple countries, possesses significant historical, cultural, and symbolic value. As one of the 49 cultural routes certified by the Council of Europe, the Aeneas Cultural Route follows the mythological journey of the Trojan hero Aeneas and encompasses ports and archaeological sites located in Türkiye, as well as in Albania, Italy, Greece, and Tunisia. This study examines the Aeneas Cultural Route, which extends from Troy across the Mediterranean region, and evaluates the values it embodies and its development potential based on the perspectives of tourist guides. A quantitative research method was adopted, and data were collected through the Cultural Route Evaluation Model (CREM) questionnaire administered to tourist guides working along routes associated with the Aeneas Cultural Route and who are members of the Çanakkale Regional Chamber of Tourist Guides (ÇARO). In line with the findings obtained, the route’s level of recognition, significance, and potential contributions to tourism were analyzed. The main objective of the study is to assess the current status of the Aeneas Cultural Route in a manner that contributes to the conservation of cultural heritage and its utilization through tourism, and to propose concrete recommendations for its further development. Accordingly, the study aims to support the planning of the Aeneas Cultural Route as a sustainable cultural route and to enhance its visibility at both national and international levels. The findings indicate that the Aeneas Cultural Route has strong scientific, cultural, historical, and economic potential, and that its unique theme, historical context, and cultural depth are highly valued by tourist guides. However, tourism- specific values, as well as conservation and preservation processes, remain below the route’s potential, revealing significant shortcomings in areas such as visitor experience, accessibility, promotion, infrastructure, and service quality. The analyses demonstrate that although the route’s core values are high, tourism-related dimensions have not yet reached a level sufficient to support this potential. This suggests that, through targeted interventions in strategic planning, infrastructure development, management, and tourism product diversification, the Aeneas Cultural Route can be transformed into a more visible, sustainable, and functional cultural route at both national and international scales. Overall, the study conducts a systematic review of the present condition of the Aeneas Cultural Route and develops a comprehensive basis to support subsequent studies, management initiatives and strategic decisions related to its enhancement.
