Turning preferences in the corner turning test and the status of proinflammatory cytokines in the right-left brain hemispheres in the lipopolysaccharide-induced neuroinflammation model

Aims: Neuroinflammation is described as an inflammatory response within the nervous system. The study aimed to investigate
the behavior of rats in the corner turning test and the distribution of proinflammatory cytokines between the right/left
hemispheres in the neuroinflammation model induced by lipopolysaccharide. Furthermore, locomotor activity, anxiety-like
behaviors, and stress-related harderian gland secretion were also analyzed.
Methods: 12 adults male Wistar albino rats were divided into control (n=6) and neuroinflammation animals (n=6). The
neuroinflammation group received a single dose of 2 mg/kg intraperitoneally LPS, and 1 ml/kg physiological saline was
administered to the control group. Six hours after LPS administration, open field test was performed for 5 minutes. The corner
rotation test protocol was performed 6 and 24 hours after LPS administration. Subjects were sacrificed 24 hours after LPS
administration. TNF-a and IL-1beta were analyzed in the prefrontal cortex, striatum, and serum. All procedures were conducted
with the approval of the Balıkesir University Experimental Animals Ethics Committee (Date: 22.11.2023, Decision No: 2023/10-
5). Results were analyzed using the students’ T test.
Results: In the open field test, locomotor activity decreased (p<0.0001), while anxiety-like behaviors increased (p<0.05-p<0.0001).
Harderian gland secretion significantly increased by 4-5 points in the neuroinflammation group (p<0.0001). No difference
was observed between the control and LPS groups in the corner-turning test (p>0.05). TNF-alpha and IL-1beta significantly
increased compared to the control group (p<0.01-p<0.0001). There was no difference in proinflammatory cytokines between
the right hemispheres (p>0.01).
Conclusion: In the neuroinflammation group, anxiety-like behaviors and proinflammatory cytokines increased. Stress-related
spotting around the eyes and nose increased. According to the corner-turning test, no significant difference was observed. More
studies are needed in neuroinflammation models with the corner-turning test, which examines damage to the hemispheres in
neurological experiments.

Ön büro departmanı hem fiziksel hem de işleyiş açısından konaklama işletmelerinin
merkezinde yer almaktadır. Bu durumun en önemli nedenlerinden biri, konukların
işletmeye adım attıkları andan itibaren ilk izlenimlerini ön büro aracılığıyla
edinmeleridir. Dahası konuklar, konaklama süreci boyunca istekleri, ihtiyaçları veya
sorunları ile ilgili öncelikle otelin merkezi konumunda olan ön büroya
yönelmektedirler. Bu nedenle ön büronun etkin ve verimli bir şekilde hizmet
verebilmesi için teknolojik gelişmeleri yakından takip etmesi önemli konuların başında
gelmektedir. Literatür taraması yöntemi ile yapılan bu çalışmanın amacı konaklama
işletmelerinin ön büro departmanında kullanılan mobil teknolojileri tespit etmektir.
Buna ilaveten bu teknolojilerin kullanım alanlarını ve ön büro hizmet süreci üzerindeki
etkilerini değerlendirerek araştırmacılara ve uygulamacılara önerilerde
bulunmaktadır.

The research area, Sarıbeyler Neighborhood of Savaştepe District, Balıkesir Province, has
historically played a significant role in the local economy by contributing to the development of the
traditional handicrafts of weaving and felting through its local sheep breeds and cotton varieties.
Weaving and felting have also become an important part of folk culture. However, today, the knowledge
of these local breeds is largely disappearing, and the local population has ceased to be a community
producing handicrafts, and the region has entered a socio-cultural transformation process in which its
diversity and cultural heritage are being forgotten. In this context, the aim of the research is to collect
ethnographic information regarding the use of sheep wool obtained from local sheep breeds and felting
wool produced from local cotton in traditional handicrafts, such as weaving and felting, from past to
present. The research was conducted using qualitative research methods. The research resulted in
ethnographic information regarding the processes of sheep wool production in Sarıbeyler, local cotton
production processes, and their past use in traditional handicrafts. The interrelationship between local
varieties and traditional handicrafts has been revealed. Reviving traditional handicrafts will ensure the
preservation and survival of local cotton varieties and indigenous sheep breeds. Thus, tracing the traces
of the region's past will contribute to the creation of an infrastructure for local development and
sustainable tourism.
Türkiye ve Türk Cumhuriyetleri ülkeleri arasındaki uluslararası ticaret ilişkileri

Bu çalışma, Türkiye ile Türk Cumhuriyetleri olarak tanımlanan Azerbaycan, Kazakistan, Kırgızistan, Özbekistan ve
Türkmenistan arasında 1991 yılından günümüze kadar gelişen uluslararası ticaret ilişkilerini incelemeyi amaçlamaktadır.
Türkiye, bu ülkelerin bağımsızlıklarını kazanmalarının ardından ekonomik, siyasi ve kültürel açılardan çok boyutlu ilişkiler
geliştirmiştir. Araştırmada, 2014–2024 dönemine ait dış ticaret verileri esas alınarak, Türkiye’nin bu ülkelere yönelik
ihracat ve ithalat performansı ürün gruplarına göre değerlendirilmiş; ticaret hacminin yıllara göre seyri analiz edilmiştir.
Çalışma kapsamında elde edilen bulgular, Türkiye’nin söz konusu ülkelere yüksek katma değerli sanayi ürünleri
(makineler, elektrikli cihazlar, tekstil ürünleri ve inşaat malzemeleri) ihraç ettiğini, buna karşılık enerji kaynakları, pamuk,
metal cevherleri ve tarımsal ürünleri ithal ettiğini ortaya koymaktadır. Özellikle Azerbaycan ve Kazakistan ile olan ticaretin
enerji temelli olduğu; Türkmenistan’ın doğal kaynaklar, Özbekistan’ın pamuk ve metaller, Kırgızistan’ın ise sınırlı fakat artan
ticaret potansiyeline sahip olduğu görülmektedir. Elde edilen sonuçlar, Türkiye ile Türk Cumhuriyetleri arasındaki ekonomik
ilişkilerin karşılıklı ihtiyaçlara dayalı, tamamlayıcı bir yapıya sahip olduğunu göstermektedir. Bu bağlamda, ulaştırma, enerji,
dijital altyapı ve tarım gibi alanlardageliştirilecek yeni stratejik iş birliklerinin, karşılıklı ekonomik kalkınmayı daha da ileriye
taşıyacağı değerlendirilmektedir.
Indoor air quality studies in educational buildings: Literature review

People spend a significant amount of time in enclosed spaces, which often leads to a disconnection from nature
and the creation of artificial environments. The comfort conditions of indoor spaces significantly influence users
and their health. While it is essential to ensure optimal thermal, visual, and acoustic performance for users in
indoor environments, prioritizing ventilation performance is crucial for maintaining indoor air quality. In
buildings that accommodate a large number of users, proper ventilation is especially important to prevent the
spread of epidemic diseases, reduce unpleasant odours, and expel harmful particles from the indoor air. The
performance of ventilation is particularly critical in educational buildings, where many users are present
simultaneously. In classrooms, for instance, epidemics can spread due to insufficient ventilation. Furthermore, it
is evident that indoor air quality affects academic performance and the overall success of students. This study
aims to emphasize the importance of indoor air quality and ventilation performance in educational buildings. In
this context, a literature review on indoor air quality was conducted, comparing studies carried out in Turkey,
particularly in primary and university-level schools. The measurements from these studies indicate that CO2 levels
in classrooms are highest in February and lowest in June. As the concentration of CO2, which diminishes indoor
air quality, increases, the incidence of diseases also rises. The examined studies highlight the necessity of focusing
on ventilation performance in educational buildings and recommend the use of mechanical ventilation systems.
Additionally, it was noted that indoor air pollutants should be minimized. Future studies should aim to enhance
indoor ventilation performance in educational buildings by designing systems that optimize clean air through both
natural and mechanical ventilation, even in February, when indoor air quality is at its lowest, by employing
optimization techniques.
