Olympic wrestling perform in two categories such as free-style and Greco-roman. Greco-roman wrestling is a combat sport where upper extremities are used and lower extremities are prohibited, while free-style wrestling is used for all body extremities and is performed under certain rules. The aim of this study was to determine the effect of core strength training on lower extremity anaerobic capacities of elite wrestlers. Fifteen male free-style wrestling athletes which is B and C national levels participated in the study. Wingate Anaerobic Test (WAnT) was used to determine the lower extremity anaerobic capacities of the wrestlers. To ensure standardization at the beginning of the study, familization was performed for the WAnT protocol and the measurement results were not included in the study. After 3 days, full rest was achieved and the lower extremity anaerobic capacities of the wrestlers were determined using WAnT. In addition to routine wrestling training, wrestlers performed core strength training for 8 weeks, 3 days per week and 30-45 minutes a day. The post-tests of the study were measured after 3 days of full rest after the last training session. The obtained data were tested for normality test by Shapiro-Wilk test. Wilcoxon signed rank test was used for the analysis of the data showing non-normal distribution. According to the results of the study, when the WAnT performances before and after 8-weeks of core strength training were compared, it was found that there was no statistically significant difference between the wrestlers' MaxAP, MAC and MinAP values. As a result, it was found that there was a numerical increase in MaxAP and MAC values and a decrease in MinAP values with core strength training of free-style wrestlers. This result shows that with 8-weeks of core strength training, they can achieve higher output as well as the ability to maintain this exercise at higher intensity.en_US
