Kur’ân’da geçen “zakkum ağacı” üzerine bir literatür incelemesi

Abstract

Kur’ân’da cehennem tasvirleri yapılırken bahsedilen unsurlardan biri de “zakkum ağacı”dır. Söz konusu tasvirlere göre cehennem ehli, kökünün cehennem ateşinin dibinde olduğu belirtilen bu ağaçtan yiyecekler; üzerine de susamış develer misali kaynar su içeceklerdir. Karınlarında erimiş maden gibi kaynayacak olan karışımla ne açlıkları ne de susuzlukları giderilmiş olacaktır. Söz konusu zakkum-kaynar su döngüsü bu şekilde sürüp gidecektir. Bu makale, zakkum ağacı özelinde yapılmış bir literatür incelemesini içermektedir. Yapılan incelemede, tefsir geleneğinin vazgeçilmez unsurunun rivâyetler olduğu bir defa daha görülmüştür. Bununla birlikte aklî yorumların; kelâmî, sûfî, sembolik, bilimsel yönelişlerin konuya zenginlik kattığı söylenmelidir. Sonuç itibariyle Kur’ân’ın müteşâbih unsurlarından biri olan zakkumun ağaç olduğu malum ancak nasıl bir ağaç olduğu bizim için meçhuldür. Maalesef insana özgü aşırılıklar her konuda olduğu gibi bu konuda da kendini göstermektedir.

One of the elements of the hell in the Qur’an is the “zaqqum tree” drawing attention in Quranic hell descriptions. According to those descriptions, the people of hell eat from this tree rooted in the bottom of hell then drinks boiling water like thirsty camel drinks. This mixture will boil like molten metal in their abdomen but their hunger or thirst will not come to an end. The mentioned zaqqum-boiling water cycle will continue in this way. This article contains a literature review made specifically for the zaqqum tree. It is seen once more that the indispensable tradition of tafseer (commentary) is the narratives. On the other hand, It should be said that the interpretations made in terms of kalam, sufism, and science are enriching the subject. As a result, zaqqum is one of mutashabihs of the Qur’an and it is known to us zaqqum is a tree in the hell, but we do not know the nature of this tree. Unfortunately, human-specific excesses, as everything shows itself in this regard.
