Balıkesir Üniversitesi’nden Balıkesir Tıp Fakültesine: Kısa Bir Öykü

Abstract

Tıp fakülteleri, sağlık hizmetlerinin yapılandırılması ve uygulanmasında, toplumun sağlık gereksinimlerine uygun kalitede hekim yetiştirilmesinde önemli bir rolü olan akademik bilimsel kurumlardır. Aynı zamanda, ülkede uygulanan sağlık politikalarından etkilenen (tıp eğitimi, öğrenci kontenjanı, Ar-Ge araştırmaları ve üniversite bütçeleri vb.) kurumlardır. Ülkemizde tıp fakültesi sayısı 1945 yılına kadar 1 iken, günümüzde Yüksek Öğrenim Kurumu, 2019-2020 eğitim-öğretim döneminde 5’i yurt dışında olmak üzere, 122 tıp fakültesi için 15 bin 500 öğrenci kadrosu ilân etmiştir. Balıkesir Üniversitesi Tıp Fakültesi, bir yandan Güney Marmara Bölgesinin diğer yanda Kuzey Ege Bölgesinin Tıp Fakültesi olarak, 2006 yılında kurulmuştur. Makalede, Balıkesir Üniversitesi Tıp Fakültesinin kuruluşunu hazırlayan etkenler, dönemin sağlık politikaları ve kuruluşu anlatılmaktadır.

Medical faculties are academic and scientific institutions that have an important role in the structuring and implementation of health services, and in training physicians in accordance withthe health needs of the society. At the same time, they are institutions that are affected by the health policies implemented in the country (medical education, student quota, R&D researchand university budgets, etc.). While the number of medical faculties in our country was 1 until1945, today the Higher Education Institution has announced 15,500 student staff for 122 medicalfaculties, 5 of which are abroad, in the 2019-2020 academic year. Balıkesir University Faculty of Medicine was established in 2006 as the Faculty of Medicine of the Southern Marmara Region on the one hand and the Northern Aegean Region on the other. In the article, the factors that prepared the foundation of Balıkesir University Faculty of Medicine, the health policies of the period and its establishment are explained
