Masal ülkesinin kahramanı: Kafkasya ve Fatihi Özdemiroğlu Osman Paşa

Abstract

Kafkas dağları masal ya da destanlarda “Kafdağı” ile özdeşleştirilmiştir. Kafkas dağları bölgeyi açık biçimde kuzey ve güney olarak ayırmıştır. Ulu bir dağ silsilesi olan Kafkas dağları askeri faaliyetler açısından savunma, korunma ve saklanma kolaylığı sağlarken, kültürel ve etnik bakımdan birbirinden bağımsız veya kopuk bir beşerî yapıyı ortaya çıkarmıştır. Osmanlıların Kafkasya ile ilk münasebetleri ise Karadeniz üzerinden Kırım Hanlığı aracılığıyla gerçekleşmiştir. Daha sonra Osmanlı Devleti’nin doğuda İran (Safevi) ile giriştiği mücadelede Kafkasya önemli mücadele alanı haline gelmiştir. Diğer taraftan Osmanlılar Güney Kafkasya’da ilerlerken, Rusların Kazan Hanlığı’na hâkim olmalarından sonra Türkistan coğrafyasında başlayan Rus yayılmacılığı, Kafkasya’da da kendini göstermeye başlamıştır. Buna bağlı olarak Osmanlılar Kuzey Kafkasya’da Ruslarla karşı karşıya gelmişlerdir.16. yy’ın ikinci yarısından sonra Kafkasya’da şiddetlenen Osmanlı-İran mücadelesinin baş aktörü Türk tarihinin en parlak simalarından birisi olan Özdemiroğlu Osman Paşa olmuştur. Bu çalışmada, Özdemiroğlu Osman Paşa’nın Kafkasya’daki faaliyetleri özelinde siyasi, askeri faaliyetlerinden ziyade sonuçları itibarıyla değerlendirmelerde bulunulmuştur. Ayrıca makalede Kafkasya’nın bahse konu olan dönemden günümüze uzanan stratejik önemine değinilmiştir

The Caucasus Mountains are identified with "Mount Qaf" in tales or epics. The Caucasus mountains divide the region into north and south. While, they provide convenience of defense, protection and hiding in military activities, the Caucasus Mountains, great mountain range, have revealed a human structure, that is independent or disconnected from each other, in terms of cultural and ethnicity.The first relations of the Ottomans with the Caucasus happened through the Crimean Khanate over the Black Sea. Later, in the struggle of the Ottoman Empire with Iran (Safavid) in the east, the Caucasus became an important area. On the other hand, while the Ottomans were moving in the direction of the Southern Caucasus, Russian expansionism, which began in the geography of Turkestan after the Russians commanded the Khanate of Kazan, started to ensue also in the Caucasus. Correspondingly, the Ottomans met with the Russians in the North Caucasus. After the second half of the 16th century, Özdemiroğlu Osman Pasha, one of the most brilliant figures in Turkish history, was the main actor of the Ottoman-Iranian struggle that intensified in the Caucasus. In this study, evaluations were made about the results of Özdemiroğlu Osman Pasha's activities in the Caucasus rather than her political and military activities. Furthermore, it has been touched on the strategic importance of the Caucasus from mentioned period to present.
