Powerless duplicators of masculine politics

Abstract

Inorder to gain equal rights with men, women have been struggling for two centuries and, to some extent, this struggle has led them to achieve their rights to elect and to be elected inthe political arena. However, even ifthese efforts are accepted as a significant profit inthe aspect of legal processes, itseems that women have not been able to change the structure of male dominant politics as these efforts have not resulted ina positive manner inpractice. The aim of this article is to show the place of women inthe political structure inTurkey. Inorder to do this, the article advances a definition of politics as well as short explanations about the perception of politics up to now. After briefly relating some aspects of the phenomenon of social gender, the article explores how women have been restricted by the dominant structure on political platforms.
