Günümüz sanatında iklim krizi imgesi

Abstract

Bu çalışma, çağımızın ana sorunsallarından biri olan iklim krizinin, güncel sanatta ele alınışını aktarmaktadır. İklim krizini 21. Yüzyılda başlamış bir olgu olarak düşünmek yanlıştır, bu sorunun temeli Sanayi Devrimi’ne dayanmaktadır. Sanayileşme ile artan fosil yakıt kullanımı her geçen dönem daha artmıştır. Nüfus artışı ve her geçen yüzyıl artan kontrolsüz tüketim kültürü atmosfere geri dönüşü olmayan bir tahribat yaratmıştır. Dünyamızda sera etkisi yaratan gazlar iklimin de değişmesine neden olmuş ve bunun sonucunda aşırı sıcaklık, kuraklık ve ani su baskınları gibi hava olayları ülkeleri sosyo ekonomik açıdan zora sokmaya başlamıştır. İklim krizinin ise sanata konu ve sorunsal olması ilk 1960’lı yıllarda karşımıza çıkmaktadır. 20. Yüzyılın sonunda ise iklim krizi temalı işler üreten sanatçıların sayısında yoğun bir artış gözümüze çarpmaktadır. Bunun sebebi ise artık iklim krizinin global bir kriz halini almasıdır. Günümüz sanatçıları iklim krizi üzerine çalışmalarını disiplinler arası çalışmalarla üretmektedirler. Disiplinler arası yapılan bu çalışmalar iklim krizi gerçeğini izleyiciye aktarırken kimi zaman da daha yaşanabilir bir gelecek nasıl olur sorusuna yanıt arar şekilde üretilmiştir. Bu çalışmada iklim krizinin güncel sanata etkileri araştırılmıştır. Çalışmanın amacı ise günümüz sanatında üretilen bu işlerin iklim krizi teması üzerinden açıklamaktır. Bu amaç doğrultusunda makalenin giriş kısmında iklim krizi temalı sanat yapıtların nasıl ortaya çıktığı ele alınmakta, daha sonraki kısımda ise güncel sanattaki örneklere yer verilmektedir. Bu araştırmanın sanat alanındaki diğer çalışmalara katkı sağlanması amaçlanmaktadır.

This study conveys how one of the main issues of our time, the climate crisis, is addressed in contemporary art. It is incorrect to think that the climate crisis has only begun in our time. The roots of this problem date back to the Industrial Revolution. The use of fossil fuels, which increased with industrialization, has grown continuously over time. Population growth and the uncontrolled consumption culture that has escalated each century have caused irreversible damage to the atmosphere. Greenhouse gases, which create a greenhouse effect on our planet, have also led to climate change, resulting in extreme weather events such as high temperatures, droughts, and sudden floods, putting countries in socio-economic difficulties. The climate crisis first emerged as a subject and problem in art in the 1960s. At the end of the 20th century, there was a significant increase in the number of artists producing works on the theme of the climate crisis. The reason for this is that the climate crisis has become a global issue. Along with the climate crisis, climate injustices between countries have increased, leading to consequences such as migrations and economic crises. Contemporary artists produce their works on the climate crisis through interdisciplinary studies. These interdisciplinary works, while conveying the reality of the climate crisis to the audience, sometimes seek answers to the question of how a more livable future can be achieved. Sometimes, artists create artificial ecosystems, and at other times, they produce works containing eco-criticism. This study investigates the effects of the climate crisis on contemporary art. The aim of the study is to explain these works produced in contemporary art through the theme of the climate crisis. In line with this aim, the introduction of the article discusses how climate crisis-themed artworks emerged, and the following section provides examples from contemporary art. This research aims to contribute to other studies in the field of art.
