A power resolution for nonsinusoidal and unbalanced systems - Part I: Literature overview and motivation

Abstract

This study presents an overview on the apparent power definitions and power resolutions widely known in the literature. It is shown from the literature overview that there is a need for a power resolution, which can be used as a tool for the direct provision of the optimum compensation capacitor's power in unbalanced & nonsinusoidal systems. In addition to that, it is also mentioned that the modern power resolutions should be useful to detect the harmonic producing loads.
