Başvuruların %56,5’i erkek olup, yaş ortalaması 61,8±20,2 yıl saptandı.
Objective: We aimed to evaluate the demographic, clinical characteristics and consultation process of the patients brought to our tertiary hospital emergency department by ambulance. Material and Method: The preliminary diagnoses, demographic characteristics, and clinical procedures of adult patients admitted by ambulance from the first day of admission to the emergency department (ED) were retrospectively analyzed from the ambulance referral forms and the hospital computer system. Results: Between 01.02.2019-31.01.2020, a total of 1582 adult patients applied to ED by ambulance, and this number constitutes 10.9% of the applications in the same period. 56.5% of the applicants were male, and the average age was found to be 61.8±20.2 years. When the patients are classified according to age groups; It was determined that 16.7% were between 18-40 years old, 30.9% were between 40-65 years old and 52.3% were over 65 years old. It was found that the most frequent ambulance applications were between 12:00 and 18:00 hours (36.7%) and on Wednesday (16.1%). 12.7% (n = 201) of the patients were evaluated as judicial case. 75% of judicial cases are male patients (p <0.001). When grouped according to preliminary diagnoses, it was seen that the most common reasons were cardiovascular symptoms (18%) and trauma (16%). 61% of our patients needed at least one clinic consultation. It was determined that the department most frequently requested for consultation was the cardiology clinic (23.9%). It was found that as the age of the patient increased according to the age groups, the number of consultations requested increased (p <0.001). Conclusion: The geriatric patient population prefer ambulance services more. Elderly patients need more consultation in the management of ED and stay longer in ED, and this situation has a significant effect on the density. We think that our study will contribute to the use of ambulances and the development of the referral system between ambulances and hospitals, and the management of geriatric patients in ED.
