Özet
Küresel değer zincirlerinin derinleşmesiyle lojistik performans, ülkelerin ticari entegrasyonu ve rekabet gücü açısından giderek daha belirleyici hâle gelmiştir. Ancak lojistikteki verimlilik kazanımları, yarattığı çevresel baskı ve kaynak kullanımı nedeniyle sürdürülebilir rekabet gücünü her zaman olumlu yönde etkilememektedir. Bu çalışma, BRICS-T ülkelerinde lojistik performansın (LPI) sürdürülebilir rekabet gücü (GSCI) üzerindeki eş zamanlı etkisini incelemektedir. Analiz, Etiyopya dışındaki 11 ülkeyi ve beş gözlem yılını (2012, 2014, 2016, 2018, 2023) kapsayan dengeli bir panel veri setine dayanmaktadır. LPI alt boyutları temel bileşenler analizi (PCA) ile tek bir bileşik göstergeye indirgenmiş; havuzlanmış EKK, gruplar-arası, rassal etkiler ve sabit etkiler tahmincileri karşılaştırılmıştır. Model seçimi Hausman ve Breusch-Pagan testleriyle yapılmış, bulgular çoklu spesifikasyon kontrolleriyle sınanmıştır. Sonuçlar, lojistik performanstaki artışın aynı yıl içinde rekabet gücünü yükselteceği varsayımının örneklem genelinde geçerli olmadığını göstermektedir: ilişki bazı ülkelerde zayıf pozitif, bazılarında ise anlamlı biçimde negatiftir. Kontrol değişkenlerinden kişi başına gelir ve nüfus, ülkeler arası boyutta GSCI ile pozitif ve anlamlı; karbon emisyonları negatif (havuzlanmış modelde anlamlı); ticarete açıklık ise hiçbir modelde anlamlı çıkmamıştır.
As global value chains deepen, logistics performance has become an increasingly decisive factor in countries' trade integration and competitive positioning. However, efficiency gains in logistics do not always translate into stronger sustainable competitiveness, as they are accompanied by environmental pressures and intensified resource use. This study examines the contemporaneous effect of logistics performance (LPI) on sustainable competitiveness (GSCI) in the BRICS-T economies. The analysis draws on a balanced panel of eleven countries (excluding Ethiopia) over five observation years (2012, 2014, 2016, 2018, and 2023). The LPI sub-dimensions are aggregated into a single composite indicator via principal component analysis, and pooled OLS, between-effects, random-effects, and fixed-effects estimators are compared. Model selection is guided by the Hausman and Breusch–Pagan tests, and the robustness of the results is verified through multiple specification checks. The findings indicate that the assumption that higher logistics performance raises sustainable competitiveness within the same year does not hold across the sample: the relationship is weakly positive in some countries and statistically significant but negative in others. Among the control variables, per capita income and population are positively and significantly associated with GSCI in the between dimension; carbon emissions carry a negative sign and are significant in the pooled model, whereas trade openness is insignificant across all specifications.
