Abstract

Apart from sleep and work, free time remains the only means to find ourselves and live it. In the modern world, our free time is under threat in many areas, and how to protect it is available in this book. This book leisure time is traditionally developed in a new and comprehensive way. In this book, all aspects of the etymology of free time are discussed. The theories of Huizinnga and Cailois, two important names of the game's terms, and Kaplan, Veblen, Neulinger, Haywood, Parsons and Stebbins, the important theorists of the free time journey, are included in detail. This book is also approached from a leisure perspective. With the example of popular recreation through the history of free time, it began to show how societies are tried to be designed through free time. During free hours, you are free from shopping malls with new temples, free time turned into shopping, Baudrillard and other postmodern theories. Procedures regarding free time have been placed in the world literature, and the Turkish example has been examined.

Uyku ve iş dışında kendimizi bulmak ve onu yaşamak için elimizde tek araç olarak serbest zaman kalmıştır. Modern dünya da pek çok alamda tehdit altında olan kendimize ait serbest zamanımız, bunu nasıl yaşadığımız bu kitabın konusudur. Bu kitap serbest zamanlar kavramına kapsamlı felsefi ve sosyolojik perspektif geliştirmektedir. Bu kitapta serbest zaman kavramının etimolojisi tüm boyutları ile el ele alınmıştır. Oyun kavramının iki önemli ismi olan Huizinnga ve Cailois ile serbest zamanlar sosyolojisinin önemli kuramcıları olan Kaplan, Veblen, Neulinger, Haywood, Parsons ve Stebbins’in teorilerine detaylı olarak yer verilmiştir. Bu kitap aynı zamanda serbest zamanı tarihsel bir perspektif ile de ele almıştır. Serbest zamanların tarihçesi üzerinden popüler rekreasyon örneği ile toplumların serbest zaman üzerinden nasıl tasarlanmaya çalışıldığı gösterilmeye çalışılmıştır. Serbest zamanın yeni tapınakları olan alışveriş merkezleri, tüketime dönüşen serbest zaman, Baudrillard ve diğer postmodern teorisyenler üzerinden incelenmiştir. Dünya literatüründe serbest zaman ile ilgili yapılan başlıca çalışmalara yer verilerek, Türkiye örneği tartışılmıştır.
