Student opinions on the course of research methods in education in sport sciences

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to examine the students' views on the course of research methods in education. Focus group interview, which is one of the qualitative research methods, was used in the research. The study group consists of 5 women and 4 men. The interview was conducted over the Microsoft Teams program and recorded. 1 warm up question and 7 focus group questions, which were prepared by taking expert opinion, were directed to the participants. Audio and video recordings were made to prevent data loss. The interview took approximately 70 minutes. Students see themselves as competent in the professional and pedagogical field. Students stated that their attitudes towards research improved positively. The course contents met the expectations of the students, but there are student expectations for the practice of the course.Bu araştırmanın amacı, öğrencilerin Eğitimde Araştırma Yöntemleri dersine yönelik görüşlerinin incelenmesidir. Araştırmada nitel araştırma yaklaşımlarından fenomenoloji deseni kullanılmıştır. Örneklem tipi olarak benzeşik örnekleme kullanılmıştır. Veriler nitel veri toplama tekniklerinden olan görüşme çeşitleri içerisinden odak grup görüşmesi yöntemi ile toplanmıştır. Çalışma grubu 5 kadın, 4 erkekten oluşmaktadır. Görüşme Microsoft Teams programı üzerinden yürütülerek kayıt altına alınmıştır. Katılımcılara uzman görüşü alarak hazırlanan 1 adet ısınma sorusu ve 7 adet odak grup sorusu yönlendirilmiştir. Veri kaybının önüne geçilebilmesi için ses ve görüntü kaydı yapılmıştır. Görüşme yaklaşık 70 dakika sürmüştür. Öğrenciler mesleki ve pedagojik alanda kendilerini yeterli olarak görmektedirler. Öğrenciler araştırmaya yönelik tutumlarının olumlu yönde geliştiğini belirtmişlerdir. Ders içerikleri öğrencilerin beklentilerini karşılamıştır ancak dersin uygulama yapılması yönünde öğrenci beklentileri bulunmaktadır.
