Chantal Joffe’un resimlerinde model – tema ilişkisi

Abstract

Sanat tarihinde ressamlar, sıklıkla model kullanmışlardır. Çoğu ressam model olarak kendi çocuğunu konu edinmiştir. Günümüzün önemli İngiliz figüratif kadın ressamlarından biri olan Chantal Joffe’nin resimleri buna örnektir. Bu araştırmanın amacı, sanatçının kızını konu edindiği resimleri incelemektir. İnceleme sırasında Joffe’nin, çocuğunu tema-model olarak seçmesi, kızının doğduğu 2004 tarihinden 2019 yılına kadar geçen 15 yılı kapsayan eser üretimine yayılmış olduğu görülmüştür. Bu gerçekten yola çıkarak, sanatçının annelik kimliğiyle sanat pratiği arasında bağlantı kurulmuş ve resimlerine etkileri ortaya konmaya çalışılmıştır. Bu anlamda anne olan kadın ressamlara ilham vereceği; konu ile ilgili alana katkı sağlayarak araştırmacılara önemli bir kaynak olacağı düşünülmektedir. Ayrıca daha geniş araştırmalara kapı açması umulmaktadır. Bu araştırmada resimde seçilen modelin konuyu etkileyeceği ve bu fikrin farklı bakış açıları sunacağı düşünülmektedir. Bu doğrultuda makaleye “Chantal Joffe Resimlerinde Model-Tema İlişkisi” adı verilmiştir. Bu amaç doğrultusunda, eser-model ilişkisi hem içerik hem de teknik olarak sorgulanmaya çalışılmıştır. Bu araştırma makalesi, eser analizi bölümünde çeşitli yazar ve düşünürlerin fikirleri ile desteklenmiş olup Joffe’nin yedi resminin incelenmesi ile sınırlandırılmıştır. Araştırmada nitel araştırma yöntemi kullanılmıştır.

In the history of art, painters have often used models. Many painters have used their own children as models.. The paintings of Chantal Joffe, one of today’s important British figurative female painters, are an example of this. The purpose of this research is to examine the paintings in which the artist’s daughter is the subject. During the examination, it was seen that Joffe’s choice of his child as the subject-model has spread to the production of the work covering the 15 years from 2004 when his daughter was born to 2019. Based on this fact, a connection was established between the artist’s motherhood identity and her art practice, and its effects on her paintings were tried to be revealed. In this sense, it will inspire women painters who are mothers; It is thought that it will be an important resource for researchers on the subject, and it is hoped that it will open the door to wider research. In this research, it is thought that the model chosen in the painting will affect the subject and this idea will offer different perspectives. In this respect, the article was named “The Model-Theme Relationship in the Paintings of Chantal Joffe”. For this purpose, the artwork-model relationship has been tried to be questioned both in terms of content and technique. This research article was supported by the ideas of various authors and thinkers in the work analysis section and was limited to the examination of 7 paintings by Joffe. Qualitative research method was used in the research.
