Özet
After military coups, the decisive factor in state administrations is the military perspective. Education is one of effective areas. Even though the transition to democracy was over time, the military perspective that prevailed in the field of education remained in existence especially in education programs and textbooks. In this study, it was investigated to what extent the military perspective was reflected on the geography curriculum and textbooks, after the military coup of September 12, 1980 in Turkey. The study was carried out by using qualitative research methods, document analysis techniques. As a source of data, was collected from 1983 geography curriculum and the geography textbooks for first, second and third grades written by Reşat İZBIRAK. According to the findings obtained from the research, the subject, explanation and reading texts bearing the trace of the coup were determined both geography curriculum and textbooks. One of the most striking results is that geography books contain texts with a lot of historical content. © 2019. All Rights Reserved.
