al-Qurtubi’s life, scientific personality and his place in the Tafsīr: Perspective of the criticism of some works on the Mufassir’s Biography

Abstract

Abstract: al-Qurtubi (d. 671/1273) was born in Qurtuba, Andalusia. The time period during which the mufessir lived in Kurtuba is probably VI. (XII.) end of the century or VII. (XIII.) is the beginning of the century, al-Murābitūn period (1090-1147) and al-Muvahhidūn period (1147-1229) covers the beginning. al-Qurtubi continued his science education here until the occupation of Qurtuba. After this occupation, he emigrated to Egypt and spent the rest of his life here, in general, to copyright books. The main subjects of our research are al-Qurtubi and his famous Tafsir called al-Jâmi li-Ahkâm al-Qur’an, in which he gave emphasis to the Tafsir of the legal exegesis of Qur’an, Tafsir, Hadith, Fiqh, Arabic language and Qiraat in various branches of scientific capacity such as al-Jâmi li-Ahkâm al-Qur’an, especially in the legal exegesis of Qur’an. He has also written works in various fields such as Kurtubi, Hadith, Fiqh, Language, Sira, Islamic History and Tasavvuf (Sufism). In this article, The Scientific and moral personality of al-Qurtubi is laid out. Since there is very limited information about al-Qurtubi’s biography in the sources, this information was obtained from the works of the mufessian. In the course of the subjects, incorrect or erroneous information and baseless inferences put forward in some studies have been criticized.

Kurtubî (ö. 671/1273), Endülüs’ün Kurtuba şehrinde doğmuştur. Müfessirin Kurtuba’da yaşadığı zaman dilimi büyük bir ihtimalle VI. (XII.) yüzyılın sonları veya VII. (XIII.) yüzyılın başları olup, Murâbıtlar döneminin (1090-1147) sonları ve Muvahhidler döneminin (1147-1229) başlarını kapsamaktadır. Kurtubî, ilim tahsilini Kurtuba’nın işgaline kadar burada sürdürmüştür. Bu işgalden sonra Mısır’a hicret edip, geri kalan ömrünü burada umumiyetle kitap telif etmekle geçirmiştir. Araştırmamızın temel özneleri, Kurtubî ve ahkâm tefsirine ağırlık verdiği el-Câmi‘ li-ahkâmi’l-Kur’ân adlı meşhur tefsiridir. Kurtubî, Tefsir, Hadis, Fıkıh, Lügat ve Kıraat gibi çeşitli dallardaki ilmî kapasitesini bilhassa ahkâm tefsirine ağırlık verdiği el-Câmi‘ li-ahkâmi’l-Kur’ân’da serdetmiştir. Ayrıca Kurtubî, Hadis, Fıkıh, dil, siyer ve tasavvuf gibi muhtelif alanlarda eserler kaleme almıştır. Bu Makalede, Kurtubî’nin ilmi ve ahlâkî şahsiyeti ortaya konulmuştur. Kaynaklarda Kurtubî’nin biyografisine dair çok sınırlı malumat bulunması sebebiyle, bu bilgiler müfessirin eserlerinden elde edilmiştir. Konular işlenirken, bazı çalışmalarda öne sürülen yanlış veya hatalı bilgiler ve temelsiz çıkarımlar eleştirilmiştir.
