Examining the Views of Primary School Teachers on Organizational Commitment

dc.description.abstractThe present study aims to find out the elementary school teachers’ organizational commitment in the cityof Balıkesir, Turkey. The sample of this study is 470 teachers working in elementary schools in Balıkesirprovince in the 2017-2018 academic years. In order to collect data, Organizational Commitment Scale is used. Inthis study, the effect of organizational commitment which was handled in three factors as AffectiveCommitment, Normative commitment, and Low alternatives and Investments of Continuance Commitment onteachers’ gender, major, seniority, and education level. Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) with Lisrel, andMultivariate Analysis of Variance (MANOVA) with statistics program are conducted to analyze data. Theresults show that there are differences between gender and major of teachers on organizational commitment. Onthe other hand, there are no statistically differences between education level and seniority on organizationalcommitment in this study. Additionally, while Affective Commitment is significantly effect on gender andseniority, Normative commitment is significantly effect on major in this study.
