Interpretation of Demographic Information: An Activity to Increase Population Pyramid Skills

Abstract

Age and sex are the most important demographic pattern in a place. Geographers and demographers use pyramids a lot in order to interprete age and sex distribution of population. Pyramids are important demographic tools, they show the characteristic of the population in a specific area. The purpose of this article is to provide an exercise that allows students know understand and interpret pyramid skills. Furthermore, it is intended that high school students can have beter understanding and analyzing skill about pyramids with this exercise.
