The Evaluation of Bursa Khans Area and Sultan Complexes in the World Heritage List of Bursa Within the Scope of Cultural Heritage Tourism: A Research for Local Partners

Özet
The main purpose of this research is to get the opinions of local partners on how the inclusion of Bursa Khans Area and Sultan Complexes in the UNESCO World Heritage List affects the region within the scope of cultural heritage tourism. The universe of the research consists of local partners in Bursa, who have been involved in the UNESCO process so far. In the sample of the research, the criterion sampling method, which is based on the purpose, was preferred. Within the scope of the secondary data obtained, a semi-structured interview form was prepared for the relevant local partners responsible for the management of the region. Descriptive analysis was used to the analyze the data. In line with the answers obtained from the participants regarding the questions, different comments that attract attention were quoted and interpreted, and the findings were obtained. In the light of the findings, it has been determined that the region on the UNESCO World Heritage List provide advantages for becoming a center of attraction in terms of cultural heritage tourism, increasing international recognition and a significant increase in the number of tourists. However, it has been concluded that these increases are not sufficient for a region on the World Heritage List. In addition, in the direction of the research, it has been determined that foreign tourists visiting the Khans Area and Sultan Complexes are aware of the importance of the region’s inclusion in the UNESCO World Heritage List, while it has been concluded that local tourists and local people do not have this awareness. © 2023, Ebru Bagci.
