dc.description.abstractNon-intrusive flow measurement techniques gain importance in fluid mechanics from day to day. Among the non-intrusive flow measurement techniques, particle image velocimetry has a special place. In particle image velocimetry, correlations and image processing are done after experiments. Image processing is one of the fundamental steps in PIV processes. Selecting the right correlation type is significant from the viewpoint of results. This paper mainly deals with correlations used in particle image velocimetry experiments. Correlation types were given in table. Important results and concluding remarks from the viewpoint of aviation sector were clarified. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2023.
