Döviz kurlarındaki değişimin turizm sektörü üzerindeki etkisi; Türkiye örneği

Abstract

Bu çalışmada, döviz kurlarında meydana gelen değişimler karşısında Türkiye’yi ziyaret eden turist sayısı ve Türkiye’nin elde ettiği turizm gelirleri üzerinde bir etkisinin olup olmadığının belirlenmesi amaçlanmıştır. Çalışmanın amacına yönelik olarak iki farklı model geliştirilmiştir. Geliştirilen ilk modelde gelen turist sayısı, diğer modelde ise elde edilen toplam turizm geliri bağımlı değişken olarak kullanılmıştır. Döviz sepeti, enflasyon ve faiz oranı ise bağımsız değişken olarak çalışmaya dahil edilmiştir.Analizde kullanılan zaman serisi 01/2003 – 09/2019 dönemlerine ait olup aylık olarak derlenmiştir. Veri setinin derlenmesinde T.C Kültür ve Turizm Bakanlığı, TURSAB, TÜİK ve TCMB’ye ait kaynaklardan yararlanılmıştır. Elde edilen veriler ile Johansen Eşbütünleşme ve Granger Nedensellik analizi yapılmıştır. Analizlerin yapılmasında EViews 9 programı kullanılmıştır.Araştırmada elde edilen bulgular, döviz kurunda yaşanan değişimlerin, Türkiye’ye gelen turist sayısı ve Türkiye’nin elde ettiği turizm geliri üzerinde herhangi bir etkisinin olmadığını göstermektedir.Araştırmaya ait bulgulardan yola çıkarak sektör temsilcilerine, araştırmacılara ve akademisyenlere yönelik öneriler sunularak araştırma tamamlanmıştır.

In this study, it is aimed to determine that there is any effect on the number of tourists that visiting Turkey and tourism revenues of Turkey if there is any changes in exchange rates.Two different models were developed for the purpose of the study. the number of tourist was used as the dependent variable in the first model. Also, tourism income was used as dependent variable in the second model. In additional, currency basket, inflation and interest rate were included as independent variables in this study.The time series that used in the analysis belongs to the periods 01/2003 – 09/2019 and has been compiled on a monthly basis. In compiling the data set, resources belonging to the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the Republic of Turkey, TURSAB, TUIK and CBRT were used. Johansen Co-integration and Granger Causality analysis were performed with the obtained data. EViews 9 program was used in the analysis.The findings obtained in the research show that the changes in the exchange rate don't have any effect on the number of tourists that visiting to Turkey and the Turkey's tourism income.Based on the findings of the research, suggestions for sector representatives, researchers and academicians were presented.
