Diurnal variation of essential oil and contents of thymus zygioides griseb. (lamiaceae) growing naturally in Turkey

Abstract

Thymus zygioides is an aromatic species of the family Lamiaceae. In this study, the essential oil ratio of T. zygioides species and the diurnal variability of the essential oil components were investigated. In order to determine the diurnal variation. harvesting was performed at 3 different hours of the day (08:00; 12:00; 16:00) during the flowering period. The aim of this study was to determine the most suitable harvest time during the day. The essential oil from Thymus zygioides collected from Turkey was obtained, by hydro distillation and analyzed by GC MS. Statistical analysis showed significant differences in the essential oil content of plants dried by diurnal variability. The highest level of essential oils of 1.1 was determined in the morning (08:00 am). In addition, we determined that the oils consisted of mainly thymol (% 21.2), p(-)cymene (% 18. 5) and Y- terpinen (% 16.2) at the 08:00 time.

Thymus zygioides, Lamiaceae familyasının aromatik bir türüdür. Bu araştırmada, T. zygioides türünün uçucu yağ oranı ve uçucu yağ bileşenlerinin diurnal varyabilitesi araştırılmıştır. Diurnal varyasyonu belirlemek için çiçeklenme döneminde günün 3 farklı saatinde (08:00; 12:00; 16:00) toplama işlemi yapılmıştır. Bu araştırma sonucunda gün içinde en uygun hasat saatinin belirlenmesi amaçlanmıştır. Uçucu yağ eldesi hidrodistilasyon yöntemi ile belirlendikten sonra uçucu yağ bileşenleri GC-MS cihazı ile analiz edilmiştir. Uçucu yağ oranının diurnal varyabilitesi istatistiki olarak önemli bulunmuştur. En yüksek uçucu yağ oranı sabah (08:00) % 1.1 olarak belirlenmiştir. Ek olarak, sabah saatlerinde uçucu yağların esas olarak timol (% 21.2), p-simen (% 18.5) ve γ-terpinen (% 16.2) içerdiği tespit edilmiştir.
