Suggestions of Outline Map Activities for the Ninth Grade Geography Course

Abstract

In order to reach the goals of new geograhy teaching curriculum for high school, it is important to use student activities in the classroom. Thus, it is very important to develop and use sample student activities in classrooms in order to reach programs expected output. In this picture frame, outline map activities play an important role. The results of outline map activities give instructors for the mental maps of students (whether they developed mental map skills or not). Knowing this, teacher can design the classroom setting properly. Outline map activities can be used in any geograhy classrrom, which may help instructor to evaluate students. After applying these activities, teachers may use the results for a variety reasons, while students may use the outcomes for their real life. This paper presents sample outline map activities for the level of ninth grade students in according with new geography curriculum goals. It is expected that these sample activities would help students understand geography better and the students can reach the goal of the program easily. Most of the ninth grade geography course's content requires map skills. This study shows activities for each expected output of the program.
