Balıkesir Atatürk Parkı erken cumhuriyetten günümüze Türkiye de değişen söylem ve tasarımın bir kent parkı üzerinden örneklenmesi

Abstract

Bu makalenin amacı kentsel çevre peyzajının üretiminde söylemin rolünü tartışmaktır. Çalışmada toplumdaki iktidar ilişkilerini çözümleyebilmek amacıyla kentsel parklardan biri ele alınarak, Lefebvre ve Foucault’nun düşünceleri çerçevesinde mekanın sosyal yönü incelenmiştir. Lefebvre’ün ‘mekansallaşma’ tanımı Foucault’nun iktidar, bilgi ve söylem konusundaki düşünceleri ışığında yeniden tanımlanmıştır. Lefebvre’ün ‘mekansal pratik’ kavramı ‘söylemsel pratik’ olarak ele alınmıştır. Türkiye’de cumhuriyetin kurulduğu dönemden bugünlere değin değişen söylem ve bunun mekan üzerindeki etkileri problemi, Balıkesir’deki Atatürk Parkı’nın sosyal ve mekansal üretimi örneği üzerinde tartışılmıştır. Söylemin mekansal üretimde ve mekansal pratikteki rolü, Atatürk Parkı’na özgü iki önemli kırılma noktası yani Atatürk Parkı’nın ilk üretildiği döneme ve aynı yerde yeniden üretildiği 2007 tarihine odaklanılarak incelenmiştir.

The main objective of this study is to analyze the effects of discourse in the production of designed landscapes within the urban environment. The study concentrates on the social construction of space within the framework of Lefebvre’s spatialization triology and Foucault’s approach to power in order to investigate a public park as a tool for studying the emergence of order and power relationships in society. In this work, Lefebvre’s definition of spatialization is reconceptualised along with Foucault’s notions of power, knowledge and discourse. Additionally, Lefebvre’s ‘spatial practice’ concept was considered a ‘discursive practice’ providing a conceptual ground for the discussion of the problem. The problem is studied in reference to Atatürk Park in Balıkesir, a small city and regional capital located in the western part of Turkey. Effects of discourse in the production and practice of space is analyzed by means of focusing on the two main rupture point of the history of Atatürk Park; which one is the production date of it in Early Republican Period and the other one is the reproduction date in 2007.
