| dc.description.abstract | Pyothorax is one of the most prevalent respiratory disorders affecting cats. In the casereport, we aimed to reveal the clinical, ultrasonography and radiographic evidence in acat with pyothorax, to identify bacteria from exudate obtained by thoracocentesis, anddetermine the antimicrobial susceptibility of the bacteria involved. Significant inflam-matory patterns were seen in the blood, and the cat’s radiographs indicated differentoutcomes. In this case, Leifsonia aquatica was isolated from purulent fluid obtained froma cat with pyothorax present. In the literature review, L. aquatica has not been reportedto cause an infection in animals. In conclusion, our report gives further evidence of thecapability of this aquatic bacterium to cause infections in animals. | en_US |
