An Analysis of Public And Private Sector Organizations' Organizational Cultures And Their Effect on Workers' Organizational Commitment: An Empirical Study

Özet
The purposes of this study are: (a) to investigate the effect of organizational culture on organizational commitment by analyzing organizational culture of public and private sector organizations; (b) to display whether any differences exist between public and private sector workers or not in terms of organizational commitment. For these purposes a study is conducted on 45 public sector organizations 112 private sector by utilizing survey technique. Analysis of collected data shows that public and private sector organizations' organizational cultures differ in terms of development orientation, professionalism orientation and bureaucracy orientation. Accordingly, the hypothesis of there is a significant difference between public and private organizations in terms of organizational culture is moderately supported. Similarly, the hypothesis of there is a significant difference between public and private organizations' workers in terms of organizational commitment is also moderately supported. Lastly, there is a strong support for the hypothesis of there is a significant and meaningful relationship between organizational culture and organizational commitment
