Protective effects of sildenafil citrate administration on cisplatin-induced ovarian damage in rats

Abstract

OBJECTIVE: The aim of this study is to evaluate the effects of sildenafil citrate on cisplatin-induced ovarian toxicity. DESIGN: This study was designed as an experimental study and was holded in university-based research laboratory. A total of 32 Wistar albino female rats of cycling reproductive age were used in the experiments. Rats were utilized to create four groups. Group 1: Saline control (n¼8); Group 2: Cisplatin (n¼8); Group 3: Sildenafil citrate (n¼8); Group 4: Cisplatin plus sildenafil citrate group (n¼8).
