Antioxidant, phenolic and protein contents of some medicinal plants
Özet
In this study, the antioxidant contents such as alpha-tocopherol, beta-carotene, ferulic acid and gallic acid and, total phenolic and proteine contents of some medicinal plants were determined by High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) and UV-visible spectrophotometer, respectively. It was found that (i) the contents of antioxidant, phenolic and protein of plants were different according to plant types, (ii) the types, which have the most alpha-tocopherol, beta-carotene, ferulic acid and gallic acid contents, were Rosmarinus officinalis L., Mentha piperita L., Mentha piperita L. and Equisetum hyemale L., respectively, (iii) in general, E. hyemale L. had the most antioxidant content, (iv) there will be a relationship between alpha-tocopherol and gallic acid contents, and between beta-carotene and ferulic acid contents of plants, and (v) Hypericum perforatum L. and Glycrrhiza glabra L. had the most phenolic and protein contents, respectively.
