Mitral valve aneurysms are also most frequently associated with
endocarditis, but in rare cases of mitral aneurysms are associated with
connective tissue diseases or congenital malformation. Transesophageal
echocardiography is a more sensitive tool than transthoracic echocardiography to identify aneurysm.
